Anambra: Teacher detained for beating an 8-year-old student in a coma
Faith Nwonye, a 30-year-old educator at Landmark School, Mgbakwu, in the Anambra State local government area, has been placed under arrest on suspicion of putting a student, age eight, in a coma by beating him.

The state administration has permanently closed the school, Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, the commissioner of education, informed reporters in her office on Monday.
Chuma-Udeh went on to say that she had called Nwonye and the owner of the school to explain the events leading up to the primary two student’s brutalization.
The commissioner clarified that the school’s closure was due to its illegality as well as the incident.
“We received this unfortunate incident that a child was beaten to a coma over the weekend from an illegal school in Mgbakwu,” the woman stated.
“We invited the owner of the unlawful school and the teacher who allegedly beat the youngster on behalf of the State Government.
“While we wait for Mr. Governor’s orders, we have turned the case over to the police for additional investigations.
“In the interim, the school is permanently closed because it wasn’t intended to exist in the first place.”
She bemoaned the turn of events and said that the victim, who is presently being admitted to a hospital, has a 20% chance of surviving, as per the doctor’s assessment.
“Beating a child is illegal, regardless of whether the school is allowed or not. The child has a 20% chance of surviving, the doctor says,” she said.
She said that the instructor would be held accountable.
“The teacher will face other institutions against child rights as soon as the police are done.” Because of what she did, she will face the full force of the law.
The state of Anambra detests violence against women, children, and anybody else. It is not a component of this administration, and the governor opposes it.
